Self-assessment

Self-Assessment 14.2: (Santrock, 2008, Life Span Development)

5 = Knows everything
Write your ratings one the lines to the right side. Rate the "father figure" or "mother figure" who lives with you if you do not life with your natural parent.

Mother: ________total score

Father: ________total score

Your scores will range 6-30 for each parent. If your scores are in the 24-30 range, you likely were monitored very closely by your parents. If your scores are in the 13-23 range, you likely were monitored about an average amount and your parents knew quite a bit about what you were doing. If your scores are 12 or below, your parents likely did not monitor what you were doing very much. Researchers have found that high parental monitoring is related to many positive aspects of adolescent development.
