Meetings held in Mansfield to present options for school renovation

The Mansfield Board of Education will be holding a meeting at Mansfield Middle School Thursday, January 28th at 7:30 pm to discuss the four options that the Board is considering for school maintenance and construction.  As you have probably heard, the choices include options for the construction or renovation of one, two or three elementary schools, as well as an option to maintain the current buildings.  The projected costs of the options will also be discussed.  The proposals also include projected renovations for Mansfield Middle School.  Architect Rick Lawrence will present the options and answer questions from the Board and from the public.

This is the second of four presentations that Mr. Lawrence will make this month, one at each of the four schools.  The Board of Education meetings on Feb. 4 at Vinton School and on Feb. 11 at Southeast School will also begin with a presentation of these four proposals.  Each of these meetings will also begin at 7:30 p.m.

Each meeting will also include regular Board of Education business, including discussion of the proposed budget for the 2010-11 school year, and reviews of instructional programs.  You are welcome to stay for the entire meeting, or you may leave comfortably at any time.

The Board hopes that you will have a chance to attend, particularly so you can hear the building / renovation proposals first-hand and ask questions about the proposals.  The Board expects to select a preference among the proposals in February.
