Old School: Perfection as the Goal. New School: Imperfection as the Goal
Our society is rooted in the concept of perfection. It used to be that when you designed a product, you had one shot to make it perfect because it was generally produced in a factory by the millions and if you created something that was less than perfect, it would be financially disastrous if it failed in the marketplace.
That was always the ultimate goal for everything. Perfection.
Well, the world has changed.
Now imperfection ...
Are you checking out the bookmarks section of this web site?
I hope all of you are checking out the bookmarks section of this web site. I just posted a great article from the NY Times about the cost of raising an autistic child. Did you know that it costs parents $72K on average for each autisic child? Many of the recommended treatments are not covered by insurance. How do parents afford this? Especially when time is of extreme importance as early treatment of ...
Do you find iParentnetwork too difficult to navigate?
So I recently heard from some folks that they find iParentnetwork too difficult to navigate....that it's too "clunky" was the word. Others have said that they love the site and are thrilled to have a resource like this in town.
I'd love to hear from you how you are finding the site. Please be as specific as possible. Are there sections that you find confusing or difficult? Are their areas of the site you don't ...
How to post a job for an after school babysitting job
An anonymous question just came in. The writer was wondering where on the site was an appropriate place to post an after school job for a high school student.
There are two places that would make sense. Once is on the Tri Town List (group) that all members are automatically in. This group was set up as a place to do these sorts of things - kind of a la "Craigs List". Another spot might ...
SO CLOSE to 300 Members - Help us by inviting a friend to join!
I'm thinking that some of you may be wondering how we're is doing with this little experiment called iParentnetwork.
Well, we are so close to having 300 members, I can feel it! All we need is JUST THREE MORE MEMBERS! Can you help us surpass that mark by inviting a friend or two to join?
In just 2 1/2 months, we have blown past all original predictions, thanks to all of you. You may be ...
How to make this site really useful to you
I've made an observation....we have almost 300 parents who have signed up as members of iParentnetwork. That's really great for a new web site. When I review the analytics of the site, they also look really good. People are coming to the site over and over again....not just once. And they are spending a decent amount of time on the site -- well over 5 minutes and are reviewing over 8 pages on each visit. ...

Welcome to iParentnetwork!
Welcome to the brand new iParentnetwork! We hope that you will use this site to find information, help, and support and to be that help, information and support to other parents.
Our vision was to create a virtual town square of sorts to enable parents to connect with each other to talk about parenting -- anything about parenting. This is a tough job and over time, we have each figured out techniques that work ...
Should I use my real name as my user ID? Hmmm....
Hmmm......signing up for iParentnetwork may seem daunting to some and even downright scary to others. I'd like to point out some of the security features that are built in to this site.
This site is built with a big ol' WALL which separates the non-members (and the entire world wide web) with the logged-in members. The only stuff that can be seen by the outside world is the information that accessible without logging in.....in other ...
A Beginners' Guide To Social Networking
Social Networking is either a buzz word or a way of life -- depending on your age and demographic. If I can put it broadly, if you are under 30, social networking is a bit like breathing. You do it without thinking about it -- and if you don't, it is simply because it is isn't useful to you right now.
If you you are over 40, social networking can sound either cool, scary, or ...

Categories for web site
Per our discussion today, I have posted the proposed categories for the web site in a wiki under the Steering Committee group page. Please comment, change or add to the list and respond, please by Monday June 22nd!
Thanks
Barbara
Categories question
Does anyone have a better word for the tab "categories". The intention of this tab is to allow people to be able to see what categories of info we have on the site (ie by age of kids or topic etc).
For some reason, the word categories doesn't sit with me well.
Ideas anyone?
Thanks
Barbara

Hello Beta Testers!
I need all of you to begin coming back to the site to test for bugs. The enhancements are almost all ready to go; just a few more minor tweaks still need to be made. Please come and use the site, post comments, join or start a group and try to test out all the features from YOUR computer. Since we all have different computers with different operating systems, I need to have multiple people test this.
If you find something that isn't working for you, please do the following:
- copy and paste the URL from the page where you've encountered the problem and put that in an email to me at barbara@caseylight.com
- tell me what bug you've encountered (ie what's not working for you)
- tell me what browser and version you are using and whether you are on a Mac or a PC (for instance, using Internet Explorer 7 on a PC or Safari on a Mac etc.).
Thanks! We only have a few days to test, so get on and test early and often over the next few days! Thanks
Barbara
Just created a bunch of new groups
Check out all the new groups that have been created. Please join any that you find interesting. Or start your own!
How did I get added to this group?
I automatically place everyone who joins iParentnetwork into this group. This is a group that will facilitate times when we want to communicate something to the entire network. Through initiatiing discussions and commenting on existing discussions, all members will be informed.
