Using a first name.
My child is 4 and we have been teaching him what are full names are (my husband and myself) since our four year old could speak. Lately he has been addressing me by first name instead of saying mommy (not all the time but frequently). When he uses my name it's not in anger etc... Is this a sign of disrespect? Is this a phase that I shouldn't be concerned with? I don't want to make a big deal out of it and draw more attention to it. Anyone's thoughts?
Guns?
Our son is 4 and going through a facination with guns. We don't have any and don't believe in them but our son seems to be fascinated with them (he picked it up from schoolmates). He pretends to shoot people etc... when i was a kid we did play with toy guns but there weren't school shootings going on in that era. Should we just let it pass and ignore it as part of play? (he also has a fascination with good guy bad guy with an emphasis on the bad guy). Our child is a great kid just concerned about what we are allowing him to fantasy play especially in todays times.
