Just wanted to let everyone know that the Willimantic DMV no longer processes learner's permits.  You have to drive to a full service office and the closest one is in Norwich!  Ugh.

    • I also wanted to pass along this info....the only summer driver's ed class is held up in Tolland at CC Driver's Education. 875-8211.

Cost is $535. It includes 30 hours of classroom instruction (15 two hour classes which cover CT Driver's Manual, including 8 hours of Drug & Alcohol and Safe Driving practices. It also includes 8 hours of on-the-road driving instruction (4 two hour sessions). They run classes M-R but have the drug and alcohol classes on selective Saturday's as well.

I looked around and this seems to be the only driver's ed that is running in the area this summer. There are multiple options in the fall, usually taking place after school. I know Briarwood Academy offers classes at EO Smith.

    • Ok a continuation of this story....today I took my son to get his permit and discovered that even though the web site said we needed to bring a passport sized photo with us, we actually didn't need to do that as the Norwich facility has purchased photography equipment. So save yourself the $8 at CVS! I asked them why they couldn't keep their web site current and they said they didn't have time....like I have time to be running all over the state of CT doing unnecessary things???
